MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Mitchell High School instructor Tom Berg has been recognized for excellence in engineering education, honoring his commitment to teaching and inspiring students in the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Berg, a Project Lead the Way (PLTW) instructor at Mitchell High School, received the recognition from the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering through a Mitchell High School alumni initiative. The award highlights his dedication to math and engineering education and his role in preparing students for future careers in STEM fields.

PLTW programs are designed to provide students with hands-on learning experiences and real-world applications, helping equip them with skills needed for the global workforce. Berg’s work in the classroom has contributed to expanding those opportunities for Mitchell students.

The recognition reflects both his years of service and his continued efforts to encourage students to explore engineering pathways beyond high school.
