MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) For the first time, Mitchell hosted a stop in the Nation of Patriots’ annual flag relay, a 115-day motorcycle journey through all 50 states aimed at raising funds for disabled American veterans. According to the Mitchell Republic, the American flag, which began the day in Sioux Falls, was ceremonially handed off at the Corn Palace Plaza by members of the Vietnam Vet Legacy Vet Motorcycle Club. The nonprofit’s South Dakota effort focuses on helping veterans in financial crisis by paying essential bills like housing and utilities. All work is volunteer based, with 100% of donations going directly to veteran support. The flag will continue its journey to Watertown, Fargo, and Minnesota in the coming days, as organizers aim to expand fundraising efforts across the state.
