The Mitchell boys’ tennis team came away with one win and one loss in their meet at Harrisburg Tuesday. The Kernels defeated Sioux Falls Roosevelt 7-2, then fell to Harrisburg by the same 7-2 score as the Kernels were competing without their top singles player in Macon Larson. Mitchell got through singles play without much trouble against Roosevelt as they went 5-1, with all five wins by at least five points. The Kernels’ one loss to the Rough Riders came as Cameron Miller fell to Carter Cameron 10-8, when Miller filled in for Larson.

The Kernels had a tougher time against Harrisburg with the Tigers sweeping doubles play and four out of six singles matches. Mitchell’s singles wins came from Tyler Loecker, who beat Marcus Holling 6-1 and 6-2, and Jack Vermuelen, who beat Maverick Rogon 6-4 and 6-3.

Mitchell is hosting Watertown this Friday at 4pm at Hitchcock Park in the final dual before the ESD tournament.
