A Mitchell man who shot two people, shot at a police officer, and led authorities on a high-speed chase in December was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Tuesday.

21-year old Connor Hoy had pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault (domestic) and one count of aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer.

In the early morning hours of December 20th, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 700 block of South Rowley Street. Hoy, who was intoxicated, had shot and wounded two people. He then fired at police officers, led police on a pursuit in which he drove into and damaged patrol vehicles, and stopped his vehicle to once again fire at officers.

Hoy faced up to 40 years in prison on the two charges. He was given credit for 170 days served and was ordered to pay nearly $9,500 in restitution. He will also be responsible for continued counseling for his victims.
