MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Mitchell Planning and Zoning Commission has approved a recommendation to vacate part of North Winsor Street to make room for new practice fields as the old Mitchell High School is set for demolition. The vacated road, located between the old school and a band practice field, will be converted into green space for activities like football, soccer, and band. A cul-de-sac will reportedly be added for better traffic flow to nearby homes. The Mitchell Daily Republic reports that the project will begin in late summer. The plan now waits for final approval by Mitchell City Council at their next meeting on April 21st. For more Government stories from MitchellNow.com, Click Here.
