Authorities this morning responded to a report of an active shooter at Mitchell High School.  Dispatch received the call at around 9:20 AM.  Mitchell police, South Dakota DCI agents, Davison County officers, Hanson County officers, and Mitchell Fire and EMS responded.  Dispatch was able to make contact with school staff, and there was no indication of a situation in the school.  The school was checked by law enforcement.  The call was found to be a prank call.  There was no shooter, and no students or staff were in danger or injured.  The call appears to have originated outside of the Mitchell area.  There are reports of multiple schools in South Dakota that received similar calls today, including Brookings, Watertown, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls.
