MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Mitchell Board of Education has officially approved updates to the Mitchell Middle School handbook, tightening rules on cell phone use during the school day. Under the new policy, students must keep phones in their lockers from the start to the end of the school day. Limited use is allowed with staff permission, but repeated violations may result in phones being held or picked up by a parent. Principal John Tyler says the changes aim to reduce distractions and improve learning. Mitchell High School is also reviewing its own phone policy, but officials say a stricter middle school approach may not work as well for older students. For more Government stories from MitchellNow.com, Click Here.
