MITCHELL, S.D. (Mitchell Now) — The Mitchell School District earned favorable results in the South Dakota Department of Education’s 2025 state report card, with both Mitchell High School and Mitchell Middle School scoring above statewide averages in key academic areas.

Mitchell High School received an overall score of 78, reflecting strong student performance in English language arts, mathematics, and science. The school’s results placed it above the state average in each tested subject, reinforcing its position as one of the district’s academic leaders.

Mitchell Middle School earned an overall score of 62, also scoring above the state average in English language arts, mathematics, and science. District officials credit continued emphasis on literacy and STEM readiness for the steady gains seen at the middle level.
