The Mitchell Daily Republic Reports that the city loaned the golf course money, but after some leadership changes, the debt was forgotten. Recently, the issue resurfaced during budget talks, with city officials questioning whether the golf course had paid its debts. It was later discovered that the payment had been made but wasn’t recorded correctly. Mayor Jordan Hanson raised the issue at a city council meeting, upsetting Golf and Cemetery Board President Jeff McEntee. Hanson later apologized, admitting he should have done more research. Both sides are now working to resolve the situation.
