What a great Fourth of July weekend it was in South Dakota amateur baseball om KOOL 98.3 FM and KOOL 98.com starting on Friday night it was the Corsica Stickney Horned Frogs in Platte taking on the Platte Killer Tomatoes. The Corsica Stickney Horned Frogs got the scoring started in the top of the first thanks to a bases clearing 3 run double thanks to the Horned Frogs Kiefer Johnson and the Frogs had a 3 to nothing lead. Even though the Platte Killer Tomatoes rallied to make the game close in was the Horned Frogs Caleb Crist who pitched a whale of a game going seven innings allowing two runs on six hits while striking out two. The Corsica Stickney Horned Frogs would go on and win the game by the final of 6 to 4.
The Corsica Stickney Horned Frogs Ryan Buck would go 3 for 5 from the plate the pitcher Caleb Crist would finish the game with 2 RBI’s. The Platte Killer Tomatoes offense was led by Hunter Hewitt and Sheldon Gant who each tallied two hits in the game. The Corsica Stickney Horned Frogs look to keep it rolling this Thursday on the road at the pond in Parkston taking on the Parkston Mudcats starting at 8 pm.
Then last night on our Kool 98.3 amateur baseball game of the week last night it was the Parkston Mudcats at home taking on the 10-2 Alexandria Angels who have won 6 of their last 7 games. The Angels would get the scoring started in the top of the first as Peyton Smith would double in two runs for an Angels 2 to nothing lead.
The Angels Cole Wenande batted 4-for-5 with four RBIs, including a home run that scored two runs. Pierce Smith drove in three runs on four hits, including a double, Peyton Smith and Jerrod Zens each drove in one run on three hits, including a double by both, while Jacob Giles drove in a run on a hit and a walk in the win as well. The Angels Riley McSherry earned the victory on the mound for Alexandria, allowing three hits, two walks, and two runs in 3.1 innings, striking out eight batters.

The Mitchell Aces have played all their games at home this season but one and were looking to get to 5-2 on the season on Friday night at Cadwell Park. The fans that took in the game on Friday were not disappointed as the Mitchell Aces and the Parkston Devil Rays offenses were both on display as both teams combined for 19 hits in a close game. The visiting Parkston Devil Rays jumped on the Mitchell Aces pitching staff early as they scored three runs in the top of first inning to grab a 3 to 0 advantage and an early lead. Mitchells Carter Miller got the rally started for the Mitchell Aces as he scored a run in the bottom of the first to cut the Devil Rays lead to 3 to 1. Mitchells Parker Mandell fueled the comeback as he hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth to give the Mitchell Aces a 5 to 4 lead. He would then come up in the bottom of the ninth with the game all tied at 5 and then Mitchell’s Parker Mandell would double in the winning run as the Mitchell Aces would walk it off in dramatic fashion and win the game in a come from behind victory over the Parkston Devil Rays by the final of 6 to 5.
Three Mitchell Aces pitchers combined for the victory as Lincoln Bates started the game going four innings and Mason Herman went four innings as well but then Parker Mandell picked up the win for the Aces in his one innings of work. When it came to offense for the Mitchell Aces there was plenty of that to go around as the Aces Carter Miller scored two runs and collected two hits, Parker Mandell went 2 of 4 from the plate and had 2 hits and two RBIs on the day. The Mitchell Aces have now won five games in a row after beating the visiting Yankton Tappers yesterday by the final of 6 to 5 at Cadwell Park. The Mitchell Aces have now won five games in a row and look to keep it rolling at home on Tuesday night against the visiting Parkston Mudcats starting at 7:00 pm at Cadwell Park.
