Holiday travel yesterday and last night was made difficult by a storm system which brought snow, sleet, and freezing drizzle to the region. Late last night, many roads in South Dakota, Minnesota, and northwest Iowa were reported as partially or completely covered with snow, ice, or a combination of both. The North Dakota Department of Transportation is advising no travel across the entire state due to blowing and drifting snow with some areas receiving more than six inches of snow. I-94 from Fargo to Bismarck and I-29 from Fargo to the South Dakota border are closed. Closer to home, an accident on I-29 near Tea had traffic at a near standstill. Accidents were also reported on I-90 near Salem, on Highway 38, and on Highway 37. Anyone traveling today should check road conditions beforehand.
