Mitchell Kernels
Kernel volleyball gets back in swing tomorrow with each of the teams in action. They will be at home in Mitchell hosting Brandon Valley at the Mitchell High School Main Gym. It’ll start with the JV up first playing at 4:30pm, followed by the sophomores at 5:30pm and conclude with the varsity at 7pm.
Dakota Wesleyan
Each of your Tiger basketball teams will be in action this Wednesday for the first doubleheader of the season and their home opener. Your Tigers will be playing of course once again at the Worlds Only Corn Palace for their home games this season. Wednesday will be the second annual “Battle of the Blues” against Dakota State. Which will open with a Top 10 ranked matchup between the women’s teams. Your No. 9 ranked women’s basketball team will face the No. 6 ranked Trojans with tipoff at 6pm and our pregame beginning at 5:45pm. Then the men’s game will follow against DSU beginning at approximately 8pm.
The final home game and final regular season game for Tiger volleyball will take place tomorrow in the Christen Family Athletic Center. Not only that, but it will also be senior night. They have just a pair of seniors this year with those being outside hitter, Abigail Brunsing, and setter Mackenzie Weber. The Tigers will be playing the Briar Cliff Chargers, and the game will begin at 7:30pm.
The men’s soccer team begins postseason action tomorrow in the Great Plains Athletic Conference men’s soccer tournament. They enter as the No. 8 seed and they will be facing the team that snuck past them in their regular season finale, the Morningside Mustangs, who enter as the No. 1 seed in this tournament. This quarterfinal matchup will be in Sioux City, Iowa at Elwood Olsen Stadium and begin at 7pm.
NBA
Only a trio of games were played in the association yesterday. Results include the Detroit Pistons beating the Brooklyn Nets, 106-92, then the Atlanta Hawks taking down the New Orleans Pelicans, 126-111 and the Dallas Mavericks dominating the Orlando Magic, 108-85. 15 games are on the slate for today and one being your Minnesota Timberwolves hosting the Charlotte Hornets at 8pm in the Target Center in Minneapolis.
NFL
Tons of Sunday Football was going on yesterday and the night concluded on NBC with your Minnesota Vikings emerging victorious. The Vikings were able to muster up a trio of touchdowns in the second half after trailing 7-0 at halftime and ended up beating the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 21-13. Tonight, will round out week nine action as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to Kansas City, MO to face the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium at 7:15pm on ESPN/ABC.
