On May 1st, 2025, at 8:29 p.m., Mitchell Dispatch received a report of a stolen red pickup spotted at a gas station in the 1000 block of S Burr Street. The vehicle had previously been reported stolen out of Brookings County. A Mitchell police officer responded to the area and located the vehicle, which fled upon seeing the officer. The officer initiated pursuit of the stolen vehicle at 8:33 p.m.

The pursuit continued southbound on S Burr Street and then eastbound onto Interstate 90. A second Mitchell police officer joined the pursuit shortly thereafter. Officers pursued the vehicle into rural Hanson County, where the pickup eventually came to a stop in the middle of the road. The suspect then reversed and rammed both patrol vehicles occupied by Mitchell Police Officers.

After approximately 10 minutes, additional agencies joined the pursuit, which continued for several more miles before ending in a cornfield. A male suspect, identified as TRAVIS BULLINGTON (6/10/2003) was taken into custody on charges of Assault on Law Enforcement, First-Degree Eluding, Intentional Damage to Property, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, multiple other traffic offenses, and outstanding warrants. He is currently being held at the Davison County Jail on a $75,000 bond.

The Mitchell Police Department was assisted by the Hanson County Sheriff’s Office, Davison County Sheriff’s Office, Miner County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Spencer Fire Department, and Mitchell Fire Department.
