The names of four people involved in a fatal single-vehicle crash south of Sioux Falls that authorities discovered while investigating a stolen vehicle have been released.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that it got a report around 5 a.m. Saturday of a vehicle stolen from a farm. A supervisor from the farm suspected that the person who stole the vehicle had been involved in an accident. A search of nearby roads led to an accident scene ten miles northwest of Beresford. A deputy discovered a 2014 Ram 1500 Sport that had left the road, went airborne over a driveway, and rolled multiple times in a ditch.
Three people were killed in the crash. They’ve been identified as 20-year old Gerard Muller of Parker, 19-year old Kaydence Nygaard of Beresford, and 18-year old Collin Hlavac of Irene.
The sheriff’s office said the fourth person, 20-year old Hayden Hall of Davis, appeared to have left the scene and stole a vehicle from a nearby farm following the accident. Authorities found the stolen vehicle and Hall hours later at a home in Beresford. He was taken to a local hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries and was arrested when released.
The investigation is ongoing.
