Crews have been working all afternoon to clear the Highway 37 bypass between West 3rd and West Hanson Avenues after a semi-truck was struck by a train. The accident happened sometime between 11 and 11:30 this morning. A semi pulling a trailer was traveling north when it crossed the tracks. The trailer containing grain did not make it across before the train hit. The train was estimated to be traveling at around 10 miles an hour when it struck the trailer, spilling some of the grain on the bypass. No one was injured. Mitchell police diverted traffic away from the bypass for several hours this afternoon.
