WATERTOWN, S.D.–Don’t look for South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem to be a late entrant into the presidential race. The governor has been frequently mentioned over the past year as being a possible candidate. During an interview with a Watertown radio station on Monday, the governor said she’s not likely to join what is already a crowded field.
“No, I don’t think so,” Noem said. “President Trump is in the race, and right now, I don’t see a path for victory with anybody else with him in the race and the situation as it sits today. It can be a rollercoaster of a presidential race. I think it will be unprecedented in what we will see for development. I know there’s a lot of unknowns, and the person may win may not even be in the race yet.”
Noem’s close friend, North Dakota Republican Governor Doug Burgum, is in the race after announcing his candidacy in Fargo earlier this month.
