The top ten best states for teachers were:

  3. Florida
  4. Georgia
  5. Illinois
  6. Maryland
  7. Utah
  8. Virginia
  9. Washington
  10. New York

South Dakota ranked 45th overall in the country.  South Dakota ranked 21st for average starting salary of teachers adjusted for inflation, 22nd in quality of the school system, 23rd in student-teacher ratio, 42nd in the ability to compete for teachers by 2030, 43rd in public school spending per pupil, 45th in average salary for teachers adjusted for inflation and 47th for teachers’ income growth potetnial.
