MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The South-Central Alcohol Task Force conducted alcohol compliance checks at five establishments in Miner County on Dec. 10, 2025, with one business failing the operation.
According to the task force, four establishments passed the compliance checks. Those businesses included Hunter’s Den in Epiphany, Champs Bar in Canova, and The Cabaret and Miner’s Tavern in Carthage.
One establishment failed the compliance check. Jake’s Corner in Winfred was cited after a clerk sold alcohol without asking for identification from a confidential informant.
Authorities noted this is Jake’s Corner’s first failure within a 24-month period.
Alcohol compliance checks are conducted to ensure businesses are following state laws regarding the sale of alcohol and verifying customer age.
