One of three defendants charged in connection with the murder of a man at an apartment in downtown Mitchell in January appeared in Davison County Court on Friday. An attorney for 28-year old Luis Perez-Melendez asked Judge Chris Giles to view lengthy interviews regarding the case outside of court. Perez-Melendez is charged with murder after allegedly going to a residence North Main Street in Mitchell in January to steal a handgun with two other suspects. A 38-year old man was shot and killed at the residence. Prosecutors are expected to decide next month whether they will pursue the death penalty in the case.
