MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Governor Noem and Attorney General Marty Jackley have announced an opportunity for Tribal Police Officers to further their training at the State of South Dakota’s expense. Classes are being offered to Tribal Police Officers through the Division of Criminal Investigation. The cost to train an officer range from $5000 to $7000 depending on the certifications and specializations that the officer is pursuing. Those costs will be borne by the State of South Dakota and not the Tribes or the officers participating in the training. Tribal Officers have until April 19th to make their interest in this coursework known to the Attorney General’s Office with a May 1st deadline for submitting completed applications. The course will begin June 3rd and conclude on August 30th.
