MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Over 300 people showed up Saturday to the first-ever Switchyard Social at Palace City Brewing Company in Mitchell.
Operations and Production Manager Lindsey George is calling the event a smashing success. Palace City welcomed in 27 other breweries from across South Dakota and neighboring states like Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska. Each company had two beers on tap for attendees to try.
Palace City offered up its Electric Man IPA and “Love You to Peaches” Sour. The selections were pulled from the 19 different drinks Palace City brews in-house. Even with temperatures in the mid-nineties, people streamed in with their snack necklaces dangling.
George tells Mitchell Now most of the breweries taking part came in a day early. They held a gathering on Friday evening, collaborating on recipes, making suggestions about different promotions, and sharing what has worked for them and what they wish they would have done differently. Palace City has been open for only about a year and a half, making them one of the newer entities in the craft beer scene.
George is already hinting at another social in the future, even bigger and better than Saturday’s event. In the meantime, she encourages new customers to stop in and sample the Palace City experience.
The brewery is open seven days a week and located at 227 W Railroad Avenue, next to The Depot in Mitchell.
