MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Marty Jackley announced that a Parkston man has been sentenced to prison following his conviction on rape and related charges in Yankton County.
Quinn Scott Bormann, 23, was sentenced Thursday in Yankton County Circuit Court after a jury previously found him guilty of third-degree rape and taking pictures without consent.
Bormann received a 15-year prison sentence, with nine years suspended, resulting in six years to serve on the felony rape conviction. He was also fined $5,000. On the misdemeanor charge of taking pictures without consent, he was fined an additional $2,000. He is required to register as a sex offender.
According to the Attorney General, the incident occurred Nov. 1, 2024, in Yankton.
“The defendant took advantage of a victim who could not give consent,” Jackley said in a statement, adding that the case was aided by the victim’s courage in coming forward.
The case was investigated by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and the Yankton County Sheriff’s Office. It was prosecuted by the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office.
