No. 9 seed Platte/Geddes upset the top seeded Hanson on Thursday in Alexandria 26-24 in overtime. Platte Geddes took its first lead of the game with 5:45 left in the fourth at 18-12 — and Hanson fired back to tie it up at 18-18 with ten second left to force overtime.
In overtime, the Sun Gold Sports Player of the Game Grayson Hanson scored from four yards out and also punched it in for the two-point conversion. Hanson scored on their possession but came up a yard short on the two-point conversion to see their season end at 8-2 overall. Platte-Geddes improved to 8-2 and will advance to the Class 9AA Semifinals next Friday and travel to Timber Lake.
Platte-Geddes was led by Grayson Hanson with 21 carries for 82 rushing yards and two total touchdowns. Hanson was led by Hadley Wallace with 23 carries and 171 yards and three scores for the Beavers.
