Mitchell Post 18 baseball lost on Wednesday to the Gillette Roughriders (AA-WY) 7-2.

After scoring a run in both the first and third innings, Gillette broke the game open in the fifth inning. The riders scored five runs to extend the lead to 7-0.

Mitchell scored two runs in the sixth inning. Jake Helleloid walked with the bases loaded and Jonah Schmidt came in to score.

In the next at bat, Seth Muth singled to score Dylan Soulek.

Soulek led the Mitchell offense, going 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk and a run scored.

Gillette’s Leigton Holden was awarded the win on the mound. Holden pitched five innings, giving up two hits, two earned runs, four walks and struck out five batters.

Landon Waddel was saddled with the loss.

Mitchell Post 18 has five games scheduled over the weekend. Post 18 plays Eagan Post 594 and Hike Real Estate Post 339 on Friday.
