MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Project Prison Reset committee met Tuesday in Springfield for another attempt at addressing South Dakota’s long-term prison needs. One of the biggest sticking points is still where to put a new facility after more than a year of debate. Strong pushback from Lincoln County residents derailed earlier plans for a site between Harrisburg and Canton. Now, committee chair and Lieutenant Governor Tony Venhuizen says the group will review ten possible locations, including five in the Sioux Falls area. The task force is expected to present its recommendations during a special session of the South Dakota Legislature on July 22nd. For more Government stories from MitchellNow.com, Click Here.
