RAPID CITY, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The South Dakota Department of Corrections is providing notification to law enforcement and the public about the recent release of state prison offender Cory Yellow Boy.
“Based on his criminal history and institutional assessments that indicate a high risk to reoffend, I am alerting law enforcement and the public of this offender’s release from prison,” said Secretary of Corrections Kellie Wasko.
Cory Yellow Boy, age 34, was released from prison August 15, 2024, after serving the entirety of his sentences for eluding a police officer, sex offender failure to update address, and possession of a controlled substance. Because he served the entirety of his sentences, he is not on parole supervision. Yellow Boy is a registered sex offender.
Yellow Boy released to the Rapid City area.
Yellow Boy is Native American, 5-feet-5-inches tall, and weighs approximately 200 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.
This notification is in addition to the letters currently sent to law enforcement and notices provided to the Division of Criminal Investigation each month. Since 2011, the Department of Corrections has issued 14 public notices of pending high-risk offender releases
