MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The Retirement Laws Committee will hold its first meeting of the 2025 Interim on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 9 a.m. CT, in a joint session with the South Dakota Retirement System (SDRS) Board of Trustees, according to a notice from the Legislature. The meeting will be held both electronically and in person at the SDRS office at 222 East Capitol Avenue in Pierre. Sen. Randy Deibert of Spearfish chairs the committee, with Rep. Mike Weisgram of Fort Pierre serving as vice chair. Agenda items include SDRS financial statements and the Fiscal Year 2025 financial audit, the Fiscal Year 2026 investment update, establishment of the cost-of-living adjustment and variable retirement account contribution rate for Fiscal Year 2027, workforce and member demographic trends, the State of the System address from SDRS Executive Director Travis Almond and review of the Fiscal Year 2027 governor’s recommended budget for SDRS. Lawmakers will also consider proposed legislation for the 2026 session.

Committee members include Sens. Red Dawn Foster, Steve Kolbeck, Jamie Smith and Glen Vilhauer, along with Reps. Amber Arlint, Leslie Heinemann, David Kull and Erik Muckey.
