PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) South Dakota’s Attorney General is sharing his thoughts on the criticism that the Trump administration is stretching the rule of law. Lately, there’s been talk about whether President Trump has been breaking the rule of law with his actions during the first couple of months of his second term. Attorney General Marty Jackley says that he and other Attorneys General were already concerned about the rule of law in the White House before the new administration came in. He said he’s a big believer in the separation of powers, where legislators make the laws, judges interpret them, and Attorneys General and the Executive Branch enforce them. Jackley also worries about the effectiveness of Congress, which he said could be why President Trump has been using so many executive actions.
