PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The state House of Representatives is approving legislation aimed at recruiting more young teachers. The bill would create a student-teacher stipend program that would allocate up to five-thousand dollars per school district that would be used to pay student teachers. In all, 500-thousand dollars would be budgeted for the program. The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.
