BROOKINGS, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) South Dakota State University (SDSU) was the first university in the country to create a program that teaches and helps farmers to use precision agriculture. Precision Ag is the science of new technologies and traditional methods that make operations more efficient to increase crop yields while reducing input costs and environmental impacts.
A study by the US Department of Agriculture finds that 53% of South Dakota farmers use precision ag technology while nationally just 27% of farmers use precision ag.
