PIERRE S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) In a recent speech on the floor of the United States Senate, Senator John Thune criticized the latest student loan forgiveness plans of the Biden Administration.  This round grants loan forgiveness to three quarters of a million people who have incomes averaging $312,976.

Senator Thune says the policy is unfair to those who joined the military and risked their lives in part to gain college benefits.  Thune adds that it is also unfair to those who paid for their own education, worked their way through school, or borrowed money for college and paid it back to now use their tax dollars to grant loan forgiveness, especially to those who are already well off.

Senator Thune pointed out it was especially egregious to ask those who never went to college to pay the bill for those who borrowed money to go.  He says this policy also encourages colleges to raise their prices and students to borrow indiscriminately as they labor under the impression they will never really be called on to pay the money back.
