The Mayor of Sioux Falls and its Police Chief released the semi-annual crime stats report on Tuesday and it seems both the city and the number of crimes is growing. VERBATIM: Homicides were obviously the thing that kind of stole the headline this year. And I can tell you that nobody was beating down our door last year to pat us on the back for two homicides. Because a city of  220,000 – remarkable that we only had that number. This year, obviously, was a different story with sixteen. According to the report, even with the higher number of homicides, the city’s per capita numbers on property and violent crimes were close to the recent average. Officials said there was a record number of drugs seized in the area last year, and more drug-related deaths, though there were fewer overdoses.
