SIOUX FALLS, S.D.  (MITCHELLNOW) The city council approved an eight-million-dollar purchase agreement to buy the land, which is the site of a proposed Convention Center in the so-called Riverline District in downtown Sioux Falls.  That property currently holds the old Sears building just east of downtown Sioux Falls.

Sioux Falls City Councilor Rich Merkouris says the Riverline Steering Committee will begin fleshing out plans for the property as early as next month. The city is scheduled to close on the purchase of the land on July first. From there, the Sioux Falls City Council will schedule a vote to allow public input on the plans that are offered.
