SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) It happened around 10 a.m. Sunday at Sunshine Foods. Police say Peyton LeClaire approached a woman who was loading groceries into her car, assaulted her from behind, and repeatedly hit her in the head. He then threatened to shoot her. The woman managed to fight him off but not before he grabbed her keys and took off in her vehicle. She ran into the store to call the police. Officers later spotted the stolen car and chased LeClaire before he ditched the vehicle near South Edward Drive and ran. After a short chase, he was arrested. Authorities say there’s no known connection between LeClaire and the victim. He now faces a long list of charges including Aggravated Assault, Robbery, DUI, Grand Theft Auto, and more.
