South Dakota 4-H is seeking volunteers, industry supporters and 4-H members to serve on statewide project committees, with applications due Nov. 1, 2026.

The program, part of South Dakota State University Extension, has committee opportunities covering animal projects, youth-in-action events, shooting sports and outdoor education.

Committee members help support youth educational opportunities while developing skills and connecting with others who share their project interests. Organizers encourage applications from 4-H alumni and people with expertise or an interest in supporting youth development.

Applicants must complete a brief questionnaire covering their volunteer or membership status, committee preferences, previous experience, preferred term length and relevant project expertise. Applicants will be contacted after submissions have been reviewed.

South Dakota 4-H wants the committees to represent a broad range of backgrounds, geographic regions and project interests. The program also is emphasizing youth participation in decisions that shape its future.

“Our statewide project committees remain an essential part of providing high-quality educational opportunities for youth across the state,” said Rosie Nold, SDSU Extension 4-H program director.

Mitchell and Davison County residents interested in serving can visit the SDSU Extension events page and search “committee” to find the application.
