PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) South Dakota will invest more than $1.1 billion in road and bridge projects under a newly approved four-year plan. The Transportation Commission signed off on the proposal, which begins in 2026 and allocates nearly $600 million for highways, almost $400 million for bridges, and additional funding for safety improvements and upgrades. DOT officials say maintaining the existing system is the top priority but caution that shrinking fuel tax revenues and uncertain federal funding could put some projects at risk. One major project, the $245 million rebuild of the Platte-Winner bridge, has already been delayed until next year. For more Government stories from MitchellNow.com, Click Here.
