PIERRE S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Sioux Falls lawyer Eric Schulte was confirmed for the federal bench by a vote of 61-33 by the US Senate. He will take a lifetime appointment to South Dakota’s Central Division of federal court which is located in Pierre.
Camela Theeler is a state circuit court judge in Sioux Falls. She was recommended by the Senate Judiciary Committe for confirmation by a vote of 20-1. Her confirmation by the full Senate is expected soon. When confirmed, Judge Theeler will preside in the Western Division of South Dakota’s federal district court which is in Rapid City.
Both Theeler and Schulte are graduates of the University of South Dakota’s School of Law. The involvement and consultation of US Senators Thune and Rounds by the Biden Administration helped to smooth the confirmation process for both judicial nominees.
