Active COVID-19 cases in South Dakota went down Friday in the latest report and now stands at 1,624. The South Dakota Department of Health reported 129 new cases of COVID-19 Friday and five new fatalities from the virus as the state’s total case number reached 122,660. The death toll in the state from the virus is at 1,967 overall since the pandemic began. Meanwhile, 112 people are currently in the hospital due to COVID-19, and Davison County’s active case count fell to 38.
