MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) There was a special election held in Davison County on Tuesday December 3, 2024. The issue up for a vote was whether or not the decision of the Davison County Commission to consolidate the positions of Treasure and Auditor into one Finance Officer position. In the election, 2130 voters went to the poll out of a potential field of 13,112 registered voters.
Voting “yes” to consolidate the offices were 598 voters and voting “no” were 1531. That’s a margin of 72% no to 28% yes votes. About 17% of the eligible voters turned out to have their say in this special election.
As a result of the vote, there will be no change to the offices in Davison County.
