Mitchell

The Kernel gymnastics team is set for action tomorrow in their varsity meet. As of yesterday, due to weather conditions coming to Watertown, the location has been moved to Sioux Falls Lincoln. The competition will begin at 3:30pm at Lincoln high school.

The Kernel basketball teams are at home tonight to play Sturgis Brown in the World’s Only Corn Palace. Subvarsity games begin at 3:30pm & 4:45pm for boys and girls, with varsity girls playing at 6pm and the varsity boys at 7:30pm.

The boys and girls Kernel wrestling teams will compete over the next two days. Beginning today with the girls on the road facing Yankton at Yankton high school at 4pm. The boys will wrestle tomorrow when they also go to Yankton to compete at 9am.

Both Marlins varsity hockey teams will be in action tonight. The girls will be competing all weekend long in the Cedar Rapids Tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The boys will remain here tomorrow for their Senior Night game against Sioux Center at the Mitchell Activity Center in the Toshiba Rink at 8:30pm.

Dakota Wesleyan

Each of the Tiger Indoor Track & Field teams see action this afternoon. They’re on the road in Yankton for the Mount Marty Last Chance Meet. It is set to begin at Noon for the men and the women.

The Tiger softball team has a weekend full of games in North Dakota. It starts tomorrow when they take on Dickinson State at 10am in Jamestown, ND and then Valley City State at 2:30pm. On Sunday they face Jamestown at 8am and Mayville State at 10am. All games will be played at the Jamestown Dome.

The Tiger wrestling teams will both see action tomorrow, but in two different locations. The women will hit the road to Freemont, NE to compete in the Wikert Event Center for the Warrior Open. The competition begins at 9am. The men will remain home to wrestle in the Christen Athletic Center in Mitchell. DWU will compete in the GPAC Duals beginning at 11am.

The Tiger basketball teams return to the hardwood tomorrow in the World’s Only Corn Palace. They are set to face the Mount Marty Lancers. The games will begin at 6pm for your No. 16 ranked women and at 7:45pm for your Tiger men.

NFL

The NFL issued their season awards last night. The winners are as follows: Assistant Coach of the Year – Ben Johnson (Detroit Lions OC), Offensive Rookie of the Year – Jayden Daniels (Washington Commanders QB), Defensive Player of the Year – Pat Surtain ll (Denver Broncos CB), Offensive Player of the Year – Saquon Barkley (Philadelphia Eagles RB), Comeback Player of the Year – Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals QB), Defensive Rookie of the Year – Jared Verse (Los Angeles Rams EDGE), Coach of the Year – Kevin O’Connell (Minnesota Vikings HC) & Most Valuable Player – Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills QB).

NBA

The trade deadline has now passed in the NBA and it’s back to business as usual. Tonight, will feature seven games with only one on National TV. Starting with two games at 6pm as the San Antonio Spurs are at the Charlotte Hornets and the Cleveland Cavaliers are at the Washington Wizards. A trio of games at 6:30pm with the Milwaukee Bucks at the Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat at the Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers at the Detroit Pistons on ESPN. Then at 7pm, it’s the Toronto Raptors at the Oklahoma City Thunder and the night ends with the Utah Jazz at the Phoenix Suns at 9pm.
