Mitchell
The Mitchell varsity softball hosted Sioux Falls Roosevelt yesterday in Mitchell. The Lady Kernels won it, 11-1 behind a strong pitching performance from Rylee Jennings who struck out 10 batters in route to the win. They also scored seven of their 11 runs in the fifth inning and now sit at 4-3 overall on the season. Next, they will play on Tuesday against O’Gorman.
The girls varsity golf team had a successful day on the course yesterday. The Lady Kernels took home first place at Harrisburg! With five athletes in the Top 15. Ava Eliason shot an 83 and finished in 13th, Londyn Hajek shot an 82 and finished 11th, Mia Larson shot an 81 and finished in ninth, Anna Eliason tied for fifth and shot a 78 and Maddie Childs shot a 74 and took second place.
The Kernel varsity baseball team had a matchup with the Tea Titans and took another victory. Now they have won three of their last four games. The Kernels sit at 6-4 overall on the season. Next, they have a doubleheader against Pierre on Monday.
Dakota Wesleyan
Tiger baseball had action on the road against Briar Cliff. It was a pair of tough losses for the Tigers, losing Game 1 by a score of 7-3 and Game 2, 6-5. Next, they’ll host Briar Cliff for the last two games of the series tomorrow for Senior Day.
The Tiger softball team had a doubleheader yesterday against Doane. They hosted the games in Mitchell and split the matchup. Winning Game 1, 8-0 and losing Game 2, 7-4. They will play again tomorrow in a home doubleheader against Waldorf.
The Tiger track & field teams will both be competing today. Both the men and the women will be in action in the South Dakota Mines meet at O’Harra Stadium in Rapid City, SD at 8am.
MLB
The Minnesota Twins begin a new series tonight. They will head on over to Atlanta to face the Braves. The game will begin at 6:15pm and be on Apple TV plus.
NBA
The NBA Play-In Tournament will round out tonight with its final games to determine the eight seeds for the playoffs. Staring with the Miami Heat at the Atlanta Hawks at 6pm on TNT/TruTV/MAX and then the Dallas Mavericks at the Memphis Grizzlies at 8:30pm on ESPN. The No. 6 seed Minnesota Timberwolves have Game 1 of their series against the No. 3 seed Los Angeles Lakers tomorrow night at 7:30pm on ABC.
