The Kernels track & field teams competed in Huron yesterday at the Wendelgrass Relays. Top 5 placements include Carter Lee taking fourth in the 100m and second in the 200m. Abby Hohn got fourth in the 200m, and Addie Siemsen got third. Sam Mullenmeister finished third in the 300m, Ryan Keys got second, while Carson Weich and Alexier Padilla both got first. Padilla set a new meet record with his time. Emerson Smith set a new school record and finished second in the 800m. In hurdles, Keyana Kelley got second in the 100m hurdles and third in the 300m hurdles. Olivia Prunty got fifth and Sidney Malde got fourth in those 300m hurdles. The 4x100m relay team of Lee, Kellen Larson, Mason Kempf and Ben Johnson claimed third. The 4x100m relay team of Siemsen, Kelley, Lainee Forst & Ava Brannan ended in fourth. The 4x200m relay team of Larson, Johnson, Samari Wright and Camdyn Beatch finished fourth. The 4x200m team of London, Siemsen, Forst and Abby Hohn got third. The 4x400m team of Lee, Mullenmeister, Padilla and Miguel Vizcarra finished fourth. The 4x400m team of Forst, Weich, Keys and Siemsen finished in first while the team of Kelley, Malde, Ava & Olivia Prunty got third. Breyer Stacy finished fourth in shot put; Kellen Odell got third in Javelin while Macey Linke got fifth. Odell also finished third in long jump and claimed first in triple jump. Also in triple jump, was Sergio Brakie who got second and Audrey Miller who got first.

The Lady Kernels golf team competed in Brookings yesterday. It was another successful day for Mitchell as they finished in second place as a team. Top 10 placements include Maddie Childs with an 80 and tied for seventh and Anna Eliason with a 77 and finishing in second. Today, they will be competing in the Brandon Valley Invite at the Brandon Golf Course playing at 10am this morning.

The Kernels varsity boys tennis team continues today in State Championships for the second day. They’re in Sioux Falls at Tomar Park and will begin at 8am again today.

The Lady Kernels softball teams are set to play today. They will be at home in Mitchell taking on the Tea Area Lady Titans. JV will play first at 4pm and the varsity will follow and play at 5:30pm.

Dakota Wesleyan

The Tiger track & field team will have athletes competing in the NAIA Outdoor National Championships in Marion, Indiana. Abby Magnuson was in competition yesterday. Ethan Watson will compete today at the Wildcat Track & Field Complex at 1pm.

The Minnesota Twins resume with baseball action today. They get back in the saddle when they host the Kansas City Royals at 7:10pm tonight in Minneapolis, MN.

Last night you had the Indiana Fever at the Atlanta Dream and the New York Liberty at the Chicago Sky. Indiana took down Atlanta, 81-76 and New York destroyed Chicago, 99-74. Tonight, four games are on the docket. It’ll be the Connecticut Sun at the Minnesota Lynx at 6:30pm, then a trio of 9pm starts. With the Washington Mystics at the Las Vegas Aces, Golden State Valkyries at the Los Angeles Sparks and the Phoenix Mercury at the Seattle Storm. All games will be on ION.

The Western Conference Finals continued with Game 2 last night. It was the No. 1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder against the No. 6 seed Minnesota Timberwolves. The Thunder dominated and took a 2-0 series lead after a 118-103 win at home. Tonight, it is Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals with the No. 4 seed Indiana Pacers, who lead the series 1-0, at the No. 3 seed New York Knicks at 7pm on TNT/MAX.
