Mitchell

The varsity track & field teams competed yesterday afternoon. They had various players finish in the Top 3. Kellan Odell got second in triple jump, Taylor DeJong took first in shot and discuss, Logan Bessler got second in discuss, Aubrey Gelderman got third in pole vault and Macey Linke was second in javelin. The 4x800m relay team of Alexier Padilla, Floyd Korzan, Ben Gerlach and Hunter Patton came in first. The 4x100m relay team of Abby Hohn, Kenyana Kelley, Ava Brannon and Addie Siemsen finished third. The 4x400m team of Lainee Forst, Carson Weich, Londyn Schroeder and Emerson Smith took third. Kelley also took second in the 100m hurdles, Carter Lee finished second in the 100m, Schroeder came in second in the 1600m, Sam Mullenmeister got third in the 400m, Patton got second in the 800m while Korzan took third and in the 200m Forst and Lee both placed second.

The varsity girls golf team was in competition yesterday morning. Mitchell took second at Huron yesterday with a trio of athletes in the Top 10. Maddie Childs shot an 82 and tied for eighth, Mia Larson shot a 79 and took fifth, while Anna Eliason shot a 78 and finished in fourth.

The Kernel baseball team will play today against Yankton. They’ll hit the road for a doubleheader that begins at 5pm.

The varsity boys tennis team will be in action today on the road. They’ll be in a Dual against Watertown that begins at 11am.

The Lady Kernels softball teams will be playing today. They’ll be on the road taking on Rapid City Stevens and Rapid City Central. Varsity starts at 2:30pm CT (1:30pm MT) vs RC Stevens and JV will face RC Stevens at 4pm CT (3pm MT) and against RC Central at 6pm (5pm MT) with all games played at Parkview.

Dakota Wesleyan

The men’s and women’s golf teams received some All-Conference awards recently from the Great Plains Athletic Conference. The men had Peyton Bettcher receive Honorable Mention, while Dakota Munger and Connor Calahan earned second team All-Conference. The women had both Sara Sudenga and Ashton Austreim earn second team honors while Alison Meyerink got first team honors. Meyerink also was named Newcomer of the Year and Golfer of the Year in the GPAC.

The Tiger track & field teams will be having a meet today on the road in Seward, NE. They’ll compete in the Concordia Last Twilight meet at 11am.

MLB

The Minnesota Twins took on the Baltimore Orioles again yesterday afternoon. Minnesota was able to take another win by a score of 5-2. They are now on a five-game winning streak. Next, they’ll start a new series tonight at 7:10pm with the San Francisco Giants.

NBA

The NBA playoffs had games again last night. It was a matchup between the No. 7 seed Golden State Warriors and the No. 6 seed Minnesota Timberwolves. An impressive performance from the Timberwolves allowed them to tie the series at 1-1 after their 117-93 win. Tonight, you’ll have the No. 4 seed Indiana Pacers hosting the No. 1 seed Cleveland Cavaliers for Game 3 at 6:30pm on ESPN. Then end the night with the No. 4 seed Denver Nuggets hosting the No. 1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder for Game 3 at 9pm on ESPN.
