The Kernels gymnastics team continues to start with an impressive outing in yet another meet. In Brookings, as a team, they got their best team floor score of the season of 38.575 and finished second in team scoring with 147.85 points.

The Kernel boys and girls basketball teams return to the court tomorrow. They’re home all week long in the World’s Only Corn Palace and start things against Huron tomorrow. JV, freshman and sophomore games will start at 3:30 & 4:45pm. Varsity will start with the girls at 6pm and boys after at 7:30pm.

The boys wrestling team gets back to competition tomorrow evening. They’ll be in town in the Christen Family Athletic Center to take on the West Central Trojans. Both the JV and varsity will compete. Varsity will be first and start at 5:30pm and JV will begin at 7pm.

The Marlins girls hockey team competed again yesterday afternoon. They took down the Aberdeen Cougars, 3-1 and improved to 6-7 overall. After a scoreless first period, the Marlins railed off three goals in the second. Each with a goal apiece were Tristen Zimmer, Mckenna Tronnes and Karlie Konfrst. Next, the girls will compete Friday & Saturday in Watertown against the Lakers. The boys varsity won’t compete again until this weekend as well when they travel to Rogers, MN for the Buffalo Tournament.

Dakota Wesleyan

Both Tiger basketball teams will prepare to head to Sioux City, Iowa to take on Morningside this Wednesday. The No. 17 ranked women’s basketball team is 11-4 overall and 8-3 in Great Plains Athletic Conference action. The men are 12-5 overall and 5-4 in the GPAC. These Tigers are looking for their first doubleheader wins since Dec. 14 when both teams defeated Midland. Each team has not won on the same night since. They get another chance on Wednesday when they face the Mustangs.

NBA

Tonight, in the NBA, it’ll only be six games on the docket. Starting with the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Washington Wizards at 6pm. Followed by two 6:30pm starts as the Detroit Pistons play at the New York Knicks and the Golden State Warriors are at the Toronto Raptors. At 7pm it’s the Memphis Grizzlies at the Houston Rockets on NBATV. Ending the night will be two 9:30pm games as the San Antonio Spurs visit the Los Angeles Lakers on NBATV and the Miami Heat at the Los Angeles Clippers.

NFL

NFL Playoffs kept rolling yesterday with a trio of games. The No. 2 seed Buffalo Bills defeated the No. 7 seed Denver Broncos, 31-7. The No. 2 seed Philadelphia Eagles took down the No. 7 seed Green Bay Packers, 22-10. Ending the night was the No. 6 seed Washington Commanders upsetting the No. 3 seed Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 23-20. Tonight, the No. 5 seed Minnesota Vikings will be on neutral ground against the No. 4 seed Los Angeles Rams after the game was moved to State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ with kickoff at 7pm on ABC/ESPN.
