Mitchell

Each Kernel wrestling team competed on Saturday in Mitchell against various schools in the Jerry Opbroek Invitational. On the girls side, in the 100lb class, McKyla Linke placed third and scored 13 team points. Allyson Tilberg placed third and earned nine team points in the 107lb class. Frankie Kranz dominated and placed first while scoring 20 team points in the 114lb class. Diana Borja placed second in the 114lb class and Logan Her Many Horses came away with second and earned three team points in the 120lb class, while Cara Sanchez finished third. In the 126lb class, Liliana Luque placed third and Danny Borja placed second and scored 16 team points. Placing fourth and earning four team points each were Kimberly Contreras in the 132lb class and Sonia Romero in the 138lb class. Taylor DeJong placed second in the 165lb class. For the boys, Blaze Sevigny placed fourth in the 106lb class and earned four team points. While Noah Bennett placed fourth in the 120lb class and scored 10 team points. Van Johnson placed fourth and got nine team points in the 144lb class. Rounding it out, Sean Foote placed fourth and scored 11 team points in the 215lb class and Rocky Clark scored 22 team points as he finished first in the 285lb class.

Dakota Wesleyan

The Tiger men’s wrestling team is set to compete tomorrow evening. They’ll be on the road for the first time in 2025 as they head to Sioux City, Iowa to compete in the Hindman-Hobbs Center against Morningside. Wrestling action will get rolling at 7pm.

NFL

Tickets have been punched for the NFC and AFC Championship action after the games over the weekend. Yesterday, it started with the No. 4 seed Los Angeles Rams at the No. 2 seed Philadelphia Eagles and the Eagles came away with a 28-22 win. Next, it was the No. 3 seed Baltimore Ravens at the No. 2 seed Buffalo Bills and the Bills escaped with a 27-25 victory. The Conference Championship games will be played next Sunday, Jan. 26.
