Mitchell Tennis
The Kernel girls tennis team has action today and tomorrow. This afternoon they will be on the road at Vermillion playing at Vermillion high school at 4pm. Tomorrow, they’ll be facing Watertown at Watertown Highland Park at 11am.
Mitchell Golf
The Kernel boys golf team will compete on the road tomorrow morning. They will travel to Watertown and play at Watertown Municipal Cattail Golf Course. They will tee off at 10am.
Mitchell Soccer
The Kernel soccer teams will both be playing tomorrow. They’re on the road at Brandon Valley playing at Brandon Valley high school. The girls JV and varsity boys will play at 5pm, while the boys JV and girls varsity play at 7pm.
Mitchell Volleyball
The Kernel volleyball teams are set to host games here in Mitchell tomorrow in the high school. It’ll be against Brookings. The freshman play first at 4:30pm and JV will start at that time as well. Sophomores will begin at 5:30pm and varsity will start at 6:30pm.
DWU Golf
The Tiger men’s and women’s golf team will both be competing across multiple days. They will be at the Tatanka Golf Course in the Mount Marty Invitational today and tomorrow. Time is TBA.
MLB
The Minnesota Twins ended the Cleveland Guardians 10-game winning streak last night. It was a 6-2 and Brooks Lee hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning and pinch hitter Royce Lewis had a three run HR in the seventh in the win. Next, the Twins will travel to face the Texas Rangers tomorrow night at 7:05pm.
WNBA
The WNBA Semifinals began yesterday afternoon. The No. 6 seed Indiana Fever took down the No. 2 seed Las Vegas Aces, 89-73. Kelsey Mitchell led Indiana with 34 points. In the other game, the No. 1 seed Minnesota Lynx beat the No. 4 seed Phoenix Mercury, 82-69. Courtney Williams led Minnesota with 23 points. Additionally, awards have been given out in the WNBA as of late. Including Paige Bueckers of the Dallas Wings won the Rookie of the Year award, Naz Hillmon of the Atlanta Dream won the Sixth Player of the Year award, Natalie Nakase of the Golden State Valkyries won the Coach of the Year award, Alanna Smith of the Lynx won Co-Defensive Player of the Year – sharing that with Aja Wilson of the Aces. Wilson also was named the WNBA MVP. Her fourth time winning that award, which is the most all-time and third time getting DPOY.
NFL
The Minnesota Vikings took on the Cincinnati Bengals yesterday. The Vikings absolutely dominated the Bengals in this game and won it, 48-10. The defense had a pair of touchdowns – including one pick six, a pair of interceptions total, three fumble recoveries and had four sacks. Tonight is Monday Night Football with the Baltimore Ravens hosting the Detroit Lions at M&T Bank Stadium at 7:15pm on ABC/ESPN.
