Mitchell Golf

The Kernel golf team also competes in their Varsity ESD meet today. One day competition out in Brandon at the Brandon Valley Golf Course and they will tee off at 10am this morning.

Mitchell Tennis

The Kernel girls tennis team will begin their Varsity ESD over the next two days. They will compete at Yankton high school and begin today at 2pm and then at 8am tomorrow.

Mitchell Soccer

The Kernel soccer teams get back to the field tomorrow. They are traveling over to face Aberdeen Central at the Gene Brownell Complex. Varsity boys and girls JV play at 4pm, while the girls varsity and the boys JV begin at 6pm.

Mitchell Volleyball

The Kernel volleyball team will hit the road tomorrow to Sioux Falls for their match. They are taking on Sioux Falls Lincoln at Sioux Falls Lincoln high school. Freshman and JV play at 4:30pm, sophomores play at 5:30pm and varsity starts at 6:30pm.

DWU Golf

The Tiger women’s golf team competed in the Mustang Invitational at Marshall Golf Club over the weekend. They ended up finishing in eighth place as a team and two players finished inside the Top 15. Allison Meyerink finished in a tie for 13th after getting an 11 over par score. Sara Sudenga ended up tied for eighth with a 10 over par score.

MLB

The Minnesota Twins went 10 innings with the Philadelphia Phillies yesterday to close out the season for Minnesota. Though they did not end up coming out on top in their final game of the year and lost, 2-1. The Twins finish their season 70-92 overall and fourth in the AL Central.

WNBA

The WNBA Semifinals had Game 4 action yesterday. It started with the No. 2 seed Las Vegas Aces at the No. 6 seed Indiana Fever, and we will see a Game 5 between these two teams. Kelsey Mitchell led with 25 points and Aliyah Boston added a 24-point and 14-rebound double-double in the 90-83 win for Indiana. Series now tied 2-2 as it heads back to Las Vegas to see who goes to the WNBA Finals. Ending the night was the No. 1 seed Minnesota Lynx at the No. 4 seed Phoenix Mercury. It took a comeback effort, but the Mercury are headed to the WNBA Finals after taking down the Lynx, 86-81. They were led by Alyssa Thomas who had a 23-point and 10-assist double-double.

NFL

The Minnesota Vikings took on the Pittsburgh Steelers early yesterday morning in Dublin, Ireland. It was a game the Steelers needed to get back on track, and they did just that with a 24-21 win over Minnesota. Monday Night Football is on tap tonight with a pair of games. It’ll be the New York Jets at the Miami Dolphins at 6:15pm, followed by the Cincinnati Bengals at 7:15pm on ABC.
