Mitchell

The Kernel boys and girls varsity basketball teams will be on the road to Yankton tomorrow night with games beginning at 6pm & 7:30pm on Friday.

Both wrestling teams return to the mats for competition this evening. The boys and the girls will be here hosting the Mitchell Triangular against both Harrisburg and Yankton. All the action will begin at 5pm.

For the Marlins hockey teams, they get back to the ice this weekend. The girls will play on Saturday as they host Oahe with action beginning at 4pm in the Mitchell Activities Center in the Toshiba Rink. The boys will play on Saturday as well and play on the road against Sioux Falls-West.

Dakota Wesleyan

The women’s wrestling team has announced the postponement of their dual & senior night activities schedule for Jan. 10th. The event will be rescheduled.

Both Tiger basketball teams were on the road in Orange City, Iowa last night facing Northwestern and both games were tight all night long. The No. 17 ranked women’s basketball team kept their winning streak alive last night and pushed it to seven games after a 63-59 win over (RV) Northwestern. They were led by Emma Yost who had 21 points. Next was the men’s game as they took on the No. 7 ranked team in the NAIA. The Red Raiders managed to come out on top again after a constant back and forth game, winning it 73-67.

NBA

Eight games in the NBA tonight. You’ll have three games at 6pm. It’ll be the Toronto Raptors at the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Golden State Warriors at the Detroit Pistons and the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Orlando Magic on NBATV. One game at 7pm as the Houston Rockets visit the Memphis Grizzlies. At 7:30pm, it’s the Portland Trail Blazers at the Dallas Mavericks. Followed by two 8pm games with the Atlanta Hawks at the Phoenix Suns and the Miami Heat at the Utah Jazz. To round out the night it will then be the Charlotte Hornets at the Los Angeles Lakers.

NFL

Playoff time in the NFL! The Wild Card round starts on Saturday with the AFC. Starting with the No. 5 seed Los Angeles Chargers at the No. 4 seed Houston Texans at 3:30pm. It’ll be aired on CBS/Paramount+ and will be played in NRG Stadium in Houston, TX. Next will be the No. 6 seed Pittsburgh Steelers at the No. 3 seed Baltimore Ravens at 7pm. That game will be aired on Prime Video and played at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, MD. The No. 5 seed Minnesota Vikings will play on Monday night when they travel to play the No. 4 seed Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA on ABC/ESPN.
