The Kernel girls basketball team will be competing in the SoDak 16 tomorrow night. They are the 6 seed and will be in the World’s Only Corn Palace taking on the 11 seed Brookings. Tipoff will be at 7pm.
Dakota Wesleyan
The Tiger softball team took on Benedictine Mesa (AZ) in a doubleheader yesterday in the Tucson Invitational. The Tigers started things off right in Arizona with a pair of wins. They took Game 1, 5-2 and Game 2, 8-4. This marks their ninth straight win, and they have now improved to 13-3 overall. They’ll have today off from game action but return to the field tomorrow to face Madonna at 1:30pm and Jamestown at 4:30pm.
The Tiger baseball team is also in Tucson, AZ for the Tucson Invitational where they will have game action today against Bethany Lutheran at 9am this morning.
The Tiger basketball teams had multiple players receive Great Plains Athletic Conference All-Conference honors this season for the men’s and women’s team. On the women’s side, they had four players receive honors including Shalayne Nagel (Honorable Mention), Avery Broughton (2nd team), Emma Yost and Rylee Rosenquist (1st team). On the men’s side, it was Randy Rosenquist Jr & Jakob Dobney (Honorable Mention), Sam Aslesen (2nd team) and Tampa Scott IV (1st team). The Selection Show for the National Tournament is tonight at 6pm for the women & 7pm for the men.
South Dakota State
The Jackrabbit men’s and women’s basketball teams will have Summit League Tournament action later this week. The women are the 1 seed and will face 8 seed Omaha today beginning about 2:30pm in the Denny Sanford Premier Center. The men enter as the 3 seed and will host 6 seed North Dakota tomorrow at approximately 8:15pm.
NBA
The Minnesota Timberwolves took on the Charlotte Hornets last night. The Timberwolves emerged victorious by a score of 125-110. Minnesota was led by Jaden McDaniels who posted 29 points. Other games tonight in the NBA consist of six total games and two on National TV. First, it’s the Philadelphia 76ers at the Boston Celtics at 6:30pm on TNT/MAX and then afterwards it’s the New York Knicks at the Los Angeles Lakers at 9pm on TNT/MAX.
