Mitchell
The Kernel varsity boys tennis team will have their first bit of action of the season tomorrow. They will head on over to Yankton for a Varsity Triangular that will begin at 11am.
The Mitchell softball teams will finally have game action after multiple postponements with other opponents. They will be facing Sioux Falls Jefferson tomorrow in Mitchell. JV will start at 5pm and varsity begins at 7pm.
Dakota Wesleyan
Tiger men’s golf competed earlier this week in the Hardrocker Spring Invite. Dakota Munger led the way and finished in a tie for 14th place. He was one of three Tigers who finished in the Top 30. Others being Connor Calahan in 21st place and Andrew Norberg in 27th. As a team, they had a strong day one where they ended tied for third but struggled on day two and DWU ended up finishing in sixth place overall with a total score of 63 over par. On the women’s side, Ashton Austreim has been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference/Hauff Mid-America Sports Golfer of the Week. She earned the honor after her strong performance at the Briar Cliff Match Play where she had a 3 & 1 victory and earned three out of three possible points for her team.
The Tiger track & field teams will get back to competing over the weekend beginning tomorrow. Both the men and the women will compete in the USD Early Bird in Vermillion, SD at the Lillibridge Track Complex. They’ll get rolling tomorrow at 11:50am and will have day two action Saturday at 9am.
Tiger baseball returns to the field today after a lot of movement within their schedule. They are set to play the Mount Marty Lancers today in doubleheader. Games will start at 3 & 5pm at Drake Field in Mitchell.
Tiger softball took on the Dordt Defenders yesterday on the road in Sioux City, Iowa. The Tigers took Game 1 by a score of 3-1 and fell in Game 2, 16-11. The softball team will play again on Saturday against Doane in a doubleheader
MLB
The Minnesota Twins took on the White Sox for the final game of their series yesterday afternoon. Twins won the game by a score of 6-1 and win the series.
NBA
The Minnesota Timberwolves will play on the road at the Brooklyn Nets tonight beginning at 6:30pm. Other NBA games that will be on National TV include the Memphis Grizzlies at the Miami Heat at 6:30pm and then the Golden State Warriors at the Los Angeles Lakers at 9pm. Both games will be on TNT/TruTV/MAX.
